Bal d’Afrique opens bright but not sharp. Bergamot gives a soft citrus lift, immediately blended with green, slightly bitter florals. Very quickly, African marigold (tagetes) takes the lead — dry, sun-warmed, almost dusty in texture. It smells more like heated air and wild herbs than a classic flower.

As the scent develops, violet leaf adds a cool green smoothness, balancing the bitterness of tagetes. There is a clear contrast here: warm, dry florals against fresh green notes. No sweetness, no syrup — everything feels airy and natural.

In the drydown, vetiver becomes noticeable: earthy, clean, slightly woody, reinforcing the feeling of warm soil and dry grass under the sun. The overall impression is calm, grounded, and quietly confident — a fragrance that smells like skin warmed by daylight, not like perfume trying to impress.
